The eyes of 25 children with heart conditions from Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saarland, Hesse, and Baden-Württemberg lit up in the pit of HCB Rutronik Racing when they were allowed to take a seat in the Audi R8 LMS of the racing team supported by Rutronik Elektronische Bauelemente GmbH at the Porsche Club Days on the Hockenheimring.

The distributor has supported the Bundesverband Herzkranke Kinder e.V. (Germany’s federal association for children with heart conditions) financially for many years, and it goes without saying that it was once again an unforgettable day for the children, as Fabian Plentz, Head of Project Management and Organizational Development at Rutronik, emphasizes: “Every year, we look forward to making children with heart conditions happy by inviting them out to the racetrack. It is an unforgettable experience for the children and for us as well. Health is and remains the most important thing in life – and it cannot be taken for granted.”

A Day Full of Highlights
In addition to taking a seat in the Audi R8 LMS, the children were also allowed to visit Race Control, the speaker’s booth, and the Dunlop race service as well as watch the races from the stands – allowing the 25 children to experience motorsports up close and personal.
Every year, around 8,000 children are born in Germany with heart defects. This equals approximately 22 children every day. About 4,500 of these children need one or more open-heart procedures using a heart-lung machine each year.
