The two sensors differ primarily in the number of horizontal plates. Fluctuations in the supply voltage or temperature can cause measurement errors. The measuring principle of the Hall plate arrangement minimizes this source of error. The HAL 3020 features an arrangement of three horizontal plates and is designed for lower power consumption applications. In comparison, the HAL 3021 features six horizontal plates, offering enhanced robustness against static and dynamic mechanical tolerances, a higher signal-to-noise ratio and supports narrower air gaps and smaller target magnets.
Thanks to their fast response time and high output bandwidth, they are suitable for motor applications with up to 60,000 rpm, which can be found in the market segments of light e-mobility (e-bikes, e-scooters, monowheels), industrial robotics, as well as agricultural and heavy machinery, among others. Another advantage of the sensors: motor commutation and load position measurements can be supported thanks to the high-speed measurement capability and high accuracy of HAL 302x.
Benefits at a glance:
- High efficiency of the active stray field compensation of HAL 302x is proven for DC and AC stray fields
- Eliminates the need for expensive shielding and stronger target magnets
- Integrated diagnostic functions such as overvoltage and undervoltage detection as well as wire break monitoring during normal operation
- Temperature range from – 40 °C to 170 °C
- Available in eight-pin SOIC8 SMD package
- Supply voltage 3.0 to 5.5 V
- Radiometric analog output
Application examples:
- Rotor position measurement: Brushless DC motor (BLDC), Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM); AC induction motors (ACIM)
- Power trains: transmission actuator, clutch actuator, general purpose actuators, electric oil pumps, electric valves
- Chassis and safety: Electrohydraulic (EHB) & electromechanical braking (EMB); EPS motor
- Wiper motor
