10/22/2024 Corporate News

The Automotive Business Unit (ABU) of Rutronik Elektronische Bauelemente GmbH will celebrate its tenth anniversary in 2024 under the motto "10 Years of Success Stories". Since its inception in 2014, ABU has established itself as an indispensable partner in the automotive industry. To mark the occasion, the ABU team is sharing insights into its history and special activities.

The Automotive Business Unit (ABU) was established in October 2014, and has since become a valuable platform for the automotive industry. "We are pleased that thanks to our extensive network of well-known automotive companies, we have been able to create a valuable platform for the automotive industry over the past ten years," says Uwe Rahn, Senior Director of the Automotive Business Unit at Rutronik.

Strong partner with an extensive network in the automotive industry

The ABU is a business unit that focuses on the automotive segment and works with specially selected top manufacturers in the automotive sector. In this position, ABU acts as a consultant and interface to electronic component manufacturers, Tier 1s, and OEMs. The overall goal of the ABU team is to understand the complex challenges faced by customers and to advise them with appropriate information and component proposals. ABU customers also benefit from customized logistics systems and reliable supply chain management.

Since 2018, the Rutronik Automotive Congress in Pforzheim has been an important event highlight for decision-makers, pioneers, and developers in the German automotive industry. Just a few days ago, the first Rutronik Automotive Convention took place in the USA. The event was very well received by automotive industry experts in the United States and beyond, with presentations and discussions focusing on topics such as modern electrical system topologies, ADAS electromobility, and ambient lighting.

Development power with proof of concepts

An ABU highlight in recent years has been the development and presentation of the 80V reference design "Smart HV-eFuse" in cooperation with the partner Vishay. Developed specifically for the Asia and ASEAN region, the latest reference design focuses on 48V micromobility for Light Electric Vehicles (LEV). The approach includes a 15 kW traction inverter, a 48 V on-board charger, a DC/DC converter for up to 1 kW, and a 48 V e-fuse variant to protect the OBC. Rutronik ABU's presence at exhibitions in the USA and Asia, such as this year's Future Mobility Asia in Bangkok and the ASEAN Automotive Supply Chain in Thailand, as well as electronica India 2024 in Delhi and 2023 in Bangalore, were important for the presentation of the reference design.
