  1. Development Hardware

Thingy:53

The Nordic Thingy:53™ is an easy-to-use IoT prototyping platform. It makes it possible to create prototypes and proofs-of-concept without building custom hardware.

nRF5340 DK

Development kit for the nRF5340, a dual-core Bluetooth 5.4 SoC supporting Bluetooth Low Energy, Bluetooth mesh, NFC, Matter, Thread and Zigbee.

nRF9151 DK

The nRF9151 DK is an affordable, pre-certified single board development kit for evaluation and development on the nRF9151 System-in-Package (SiP) for LTE-M, NB-IoT, GNSS and DECT NR+. It has a dedicated LTE-M, NB-IoT and DECT NR+ antenna that supports a wide range of bands to operate globally.

Thingy:91

The Nordic Thingy:91 is an easy-to-use battery-operated prototyping platform for cellular IoT using LTE-M, NB-IoT and GNSS. It is ideal for creating Proof-of-Concept (PoC), demos and initial prototypes in your cellular IoT development phase.

nRF7002 DK

The nRF7002 DK is the development kit for the nRF7002, and nRF7001  Wi-Fi 6 Companion ICs. It contains everything needed to get started developing on a single board. The DK features an nRF5340 multiprotocol System-on-Chip (SoC) as a host processor for the nRF7002.

2. Development Tools

nRF Edge Impulse mobile app

The nRF Edge Impulse app was developed in collaboration with Edge Impulse to train and deploy embedded machine learning models on the Nordic Thingy:53 using Edge Impulse Studio. Each Nordic Thingy:53 comes pre-installed with firmware compatible with the nRF Edge Impulse mobile app. The app allows you to upload raw sensor data via your mobile device to the cloud-based Edge Impulse Studio and deploy fully trained ML models to the Nordic Thingy:53 via Bluetooth® Low Energy (LE).

The app allows you to choose between existing projects in the Edge Impulse studio data or to create a new project and collect sensor data from the following set of sensors on the Nordic Thingy:53:

  • Accelerometer
  • Microphone
  • Magnetometer
  • Light
  • Temperature, pressure, humidity, and air quality
  • Inertial (accelerometer and magnetometer)
  • Light and environment
  • Light and inertial
  • Environment and inertial

3. ML Studio

ML Studio is Nordic's own platform for creating embedded ML models to run on Nordic hardware. ML Studio has been developed in close collaboration with and is supported by Edge Impulse.
