Power Management ICs – Designed to reduce power consumption

Nordic Semiconductor leverages its extensive experience in ultra-low power wireless technology to develop power management ICs, enabling industry-leading low-power wireless solutions.

Why choose Nordic's power management ICs?

  • Maximum energy efficiency: Ultra-low power consumption means maximum energy efficiency from when the electrons leave the battery until RF signals are converted to radio waves.
  • High integration: Combining valuable system and power management features with essential PMIC functions in a compact package, cuts board space, complexity and bill of materials.
  • Seamless development: In a perfect world, a hardware engineer wouldn’t need to write code and a software engineer wouldn’t have to read the datasheet. The PC application, nPM PowerUP creates that world.

Power Management IC (PMIC) with unique system management features – nPM1300

Nordic announced the release of a third power management IC (PMIC) in mid-2023 to expand its PMIC portfolio. The nPM1300 PMIC simplifies system design by integrating essential functions required for embedded Bluetooth® Low Energy designs into one small package, enabling longer battery life and efficient battery charging with fewer components. Optimized for maximum efficiency and compact design (3.1 x 2.4mm WL-CSP or 5 x 5mm QFN), the nPM1300 is digitally configurable via an I2C-compatible Two Wire Interface (TWI). This interface allows easy access and configuration of a number of advanced system management functions, including a hardware reset functionality, battery fuel gauge, system-level watchdog, power loss warning, and failed boot recovery. These functions are typically implemented as discrete components in Bluetooth® LE embedded designs. The nPM1300 integrates them into a single, compact package, simplifying system design and reducing the number of required components. The nPM1300 is designed to provide highly efficient power regulation for Nordic's nRF52 and nRF53 series System-on-Chips (SoCs), supporting wireless protocols such as Bluetooth® Low Energy, LE Audio, Bluetooth® Mesh, Thread, and Zigbee. It is ideal for compact and advanced IoT products such as advanced wearables and portable medical applications.
